Baby: According to babycenter.com, our little one is about the size of a lime and is 3.5 inches long. I went to the doctor a few days ago. She found the heart beat which was beating strong at about 140 beats/minute. We will find out March 11 if we'll be meeting Patrick McCay or Cameron Gray this August.

Sarah: I'm starting a new Beth Moore bible study on Wednesday nights at Lakeside called Stepping Up. It is about the Psalms of Ascent. I need to get motivated again and keep up with my homework which is always a struggle for me. I've also been looking and asking around to find someone to keep our baby when I go back to work.

Patrick: Baseball season is underway with the first game in a couple weeks. Patrick is taking his 2nd class in graduate school at Montevallo on Monday nights. His professor actually keeps them until about 8 at night so we don't like that. Patrick tends to text me a lot during that time haha.

August 8 is our due date! After going to the Dr. yesterday and having an ultrasound, I know now that I am farther along than 7 or 8 weeks (which is what I expected). I am actually 9 weeks 5 days as of 1/9/08. We were able to get our first glimpse of the baby and it's heart beat which the Dr. said was "strong". It was so amazing to see what was growing inside me. Now I have proof of more than just a stick that has two lines on it :). Patrick went with me and we were both very happy with this first prenatal appointment. I go back in 4 weeks to hear the baby's heart beat via doppler. Yesterday it looked like it's heart was beating about 130 bpm. How fast does it have to be to consider a boy?

PREGNANT!!!!!

As far as I know, I'm 7 weeks along. I'll be going for my first (official) ultrasound on Jan. 8 so we can see the little one's heart beat. My friend at work brought in an ultrasound machine a few weeks ago into the recovery room (from the OR) and we found a little "peanut" in my belly. We are very excited and we'd appreciate your prayers.

SINBAD!

We went to see Sinbad last Sunday night at the Comedy Club (along with Jessica and Stephen). He was well worth the $39 tickets + dinner. We sat VERY close to the stage so needless to say Sinbad did some crackin on Patrick about being a math teacher and asked Jessica and Stephen about their relationship. I never really stopped laughing. He could have gone on all night if it weren't for the next scheduled show.

I used to rent Sinbad standup videos in high school and now I own his DVD but I never thought I'd see him in person! You really need to go see him if he comes to a town near you!!

Hello :). It has been too long since I've posted which was brought to my attention by an ex blogger who hasn't posted since 2005 (KHB). Ironic isn't it? Haha, but anyway...

PATRICK has been busy teaching Algebra I and III and coaching freshmen and varsity football @ Spain Park. The varsity team is 6-2 and the freshmen team is 3-2 so far. He has also started classes @ Montevallo to get his masters in education.

SARAH has been busy going to Patrick's freshmen and varsity football games. I have been working 3-4 days/week in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit @ Princeton averaging about 10 hours/day. I am still loving my job and the people I work with. I started this job in July.

WE are going to a couple's bible study called "Heritage Home" on Wednesday nights @ Lakeside taught by a precious and very wise 82 year old woman named Mary Oates. We've also been going to the Auburn home games. WAR EAGLE! We will both be becoming an aunt and uncle for the first time sometime in November. Patrick's sister Jamie is having a little boy named Tre! We are so excited! Please keep her in your prayers.

July times

June 28: Patrick and me go down to Panama City to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.
July 1: Happy anniversary to us! We join my parents at Compass Lake. Our wedding cake was actually pretty good!
July 3: We go to Dothan.
July 4: We go to Lake Martin do visit my dad's side of the fam. Gabe played guitar, I held my new cousin Robert Jackson Ashworth, watched Will Asworth play, ate some great bbq, and had a great time catching up with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Later on July 4: Drove to Talladega to visit with Patrick's family at his sister's house and then drove to his parents house on Cheaha Mountain and watched the Camp Mac fireworks from their front porch. They live less than a mile down the road from camp. Of course Patrick had to make an appearance. The action stopped at the nightly rec. hall party when he walked in haha.
Even later on July 4: We finally make our way back to Birmingham. It was good to see Tub and Pepper.

New Job

After 2 years of slaving myself in the Intensive Care Stepdown Unit at Princeton, I have decided to move along to something different. Prayers for direction from the Lord and then an absolute terrible day at work one Thursday confirmed my decision and gave me a peace about leaving my first and only job since I graduated from Nursing School. I have to give my old job credit b/c I have defintely improved my nursing, time management, people pleasing, and critical thinking skills and have learned to work through very difficult circumstances and life threatening situations. This job involved taking care of the sickest of the sick in their last days, getting people to a higher level of functioning after a prolonged stay in the hospital, and drastically improving some patients' health and sending them home again. All the elements (difficult family members, ornary and unapprecitive patients, the physical set up of the unit, etc) impelled me to find a different job. I'm sure I will still work some shifts on Stepdown for some extra $, but I know I will enjoy my time in my new job in the POST ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT (PACU).

In the PACU, I will recieve patients immediately after surgery, usually minutes after they have been extubated (tube removed from their throat that was giving them direct oxygen). I will monitor them very closely, watch for active bleeding, give them a high concentration of oxygen, administer lots of pain medication (but not too much), and make sure all their vital signs (heart rate, heart rythym, blood pressure, oxygen level, and temperature) are stable. Once they are stable and meet the criteria to be moved, I will move them to a room where their family can be with them and then be taken home, or move them to another unit in the hospital. I am very excited to be starting this job and I feel extremely blessed that God has given me the opportunity and answered my prayers! HE is so good!

Last night about 10:30, our doorbell rang. Some of our friends had just left so I was not surprised, thinking one of them had forgotten something. To my surprise, it was a stranger behind the door. I opened the door and she immediately offered her hand and her name (which of course I can't remember). Very nervously, she went into a spill about how she needed to take her daughter to the hospital b/c she thinks she may have meningitis. She goes on to say that her husband is at work and she needs $20-30 for her copay. Without even thinking I went inside and found almost $30 exactly in my wallet. I gave her the money and my number and told her not to worry about paying me back. I asked her what her daughters symptoms were and then told her to get right to the hospital and to pack her down with ice packs (she had a 102+ fever). She hurried off and I went back inside where I started immediately thinking how strange the situation was...Out of all the condos, why did she come to ours which is on the very bottom and back of the complex? Oh yeah, and she claims to live on the very top of the complex on Windhover Drive. I was skeptical, but I couldn't risk the fact of this woman telling the truth and truly needing the money. In my opinion, if she was telling the truth, I'll get a phone call thanking me for my genorosity. And if not, well then I guess I've been had...

Pepper is our new addition to the Beverly household. She is 2 months old and weighs 2.8 lbs. One of the main reasons we got her was for Tub to have a playmate, but so far he is just scared to death of her. She tries to play and cuddle, but he won't have it. We're hoping they'll make friends soon. She is absolutley adorable!

Since AJ got voted off, I've now pulled Jordin and Chris Richardson into my top 4. If one of these 4 win, I'll be happy. If Sanjaya doesn't get voted off tonight, I will be unhappy and very perplexed...

Mazatlan

For Haley's Spring break (she's a PE teacher in Atl), we went to Mazatlan, Mexico for a week. We got an amazing deal at a timeshare there at The Mayan Sea Garden Resort. It was a very smooth transition through customs and into Mexico (much easier than the US). We got a lot of sun, I actually read a book, played beach volleyball, parasailed, rode horses on the beach, and ate some fantastic food. No one got too sick, and we had some fun girl time!

*For those who might visit Mazatlan someday, here are our favorites: Gus & Gus, Purple Onion, Joe's Oyster Bar, Panchos, and of course Senor Frogs. Just flag down a bus, give the driver 80 pesos, and tell him to take you to the Golden Zone :)

Krystal and Benji tied the knot on February 24, 2007. Bridesmaids were myself, Haley Brown, Whitney Dobrenic, Kalee Jones, Elisabeth Hall, and Brooke Whiddon. Jenna came into town from Waco, and we saw several high school buddies like Abby, Audrey, Rebecca, Lindsey, Amy, Danielle, Stein, Brooks, Lance, Mindy, Brian, Beth, John etc. We had an awesome time at the wedding, reception, and then hanging out at Old Mexico afterwards. The best part of weddings is seeing old friends!!! It was so great.

You've got to check out Mindy Smith. A friend from work told me, "You have to listen to Hurricane by Mindy Smith!" I took her advice and I'm glad I did. I have really enjoyed listening to her. I would suggest "Hurricane", "Out Loud", "Tennessee", and "Angel Doves". Rhapsody has categorized her music as Folk. She is just easy listening to me.

More movie advice: Don't ever ever see The Wicker Man. I th ought since it had Nick Cage in it, it was sure to be decent. No, it's terrible.

Even though Patrick and I want to wait a few years before we start thinking about youngins, I still like to think up baby names. Today I was playing Gin online and got to chatting with this lady that has 6 kids. I asked her what her kids' names were. She said that she had picked some unique names, and she wasn't lying. Here they are:

1) Kathryn Donna (not so weird, but just wait)
2) Sapphire Echo
3) Lakaon Joseph
4) Silver Atlanta
5) Xander Ymir
6) Mathew Jaiden (again not so weird, but the others make up for it)

Her name was Pam. I guess she was lashing out against all normal names.

Secret Trip: Highlands, NC

After over a month of anticipation of where my "secret trip" would be, Patrick finally had to tell me where we were going a few days before we left. I had to know to pack for the high to be 40 degrees! When we got to the Highlands late Friday night, it was about 17 degrees. After a few turn arounds we found my cousin Laura's cabin and defrosted by the fire. We hiked, shopped, and ate at some great restaurants. Highlands is a quiet, friendly, little town, great for relaxing. Thanks for a great trip Patrick!

On the way home from our Thanksgiving trip around the world, we went to Lowes to pick out our very first Christmas tree! I don't know about Patrick, but I've never had a tree of my own (other than the one at my parents' house) so I was super excited. I love the smell that fills our condo; it just makes me happy. Last Saturday, Patrick and I went to Talladega to spend some time with his family. His parents are building a house on Cheaha mountain and it's almost finished which everyone is excited about. They are currently living in a "shack" down the hill from the house so they're anxious for its completion. We went to the top of the mountain and ate at the restaurant there. Later we hiked aroudn Lake Chinabee and saw the waterfall there and then headed to his Aunt Rhonda's house to eat some chili with his grandparents, cousins, etc. The pictures don't do them justice, but the leaves on the trees in Munford and Mount Cheaha were breathtaking! The yellows, greens, and reds were incredible. It also brought back very fond memories of our first date (hiking on Mount Cheaha).

PS--If anyone knows how I can lay out these pictures better, let me know. How do you make them straight when you're posting pictures??

Oak Hill was jam packed on Friday night as Conway Twitty aka Gabe Jackson sang and played for his friend's birthday party. The theme was to dress like your favorite music artist. There we saw Conway Twitty (Gabe), Loretta Lynn (Jaime), Tucker Groves/bday boy himself, Lil John, Britney and Kevin, Bjork, Kenney Chesney, Elvis, Garth Brooks, Courtney Love, The Judds, Randy Owen, and many many more. The highlight of the night was the duet, "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly" performed by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.

Waco Weekend

Haley and I had a great time in Waco this weekend with Matt, Jenna,and friends. The trip started off rough as we missed our flight on Friday night. No, we were there 2 hours ahead of time, but unaware of the new "no liquids" rule at the airport. We had too much money in the liquids that we had in our carry on (shampoo, makeup, mascara, perfume, etc) and were unable to check our bags so we had to get another flight out the next morning. We did get to hang out with Beth and John in Suwanee that night. While in Waco we ate some good Mexican food, toured the Baylor campus, met a Nick Lachey look a like, took long walks, ate some awesome custard icecream, watched Zoolander and perfected our "Blue Steel" looks, and laughed continuously. Thanks Matt & Jenna for a great weekend!

Home Improvement

Thanks to Krystal and Benji, we have a new and improved bottom level of our condo. It was out with the dirty old carpet and in with the laminate flooring. It was hard work from Friday night until Sunday afternoon, but it is worth it now! And another plus is that watching tub slide all over the floor in pursuit of his toy is absolutely hilarious. Long black slithery

A few days ago, I picked up Tub and ran down the stairs to watch Two- A- Days. When I got to the bottom of stairs I stop dead in my tracks as I saw a "long black slithery" thing against the wall. It took a few minutes for it to register in my brain that it was a snake! I calmly turned back around and went to tell Patrick. He was totally mortified. To make a long story short, Patrick kept an eye on the snake while I went to get our neighbors. Our awesome neighbors, Jess and Will, caught the snake in a pillow case and then proceeded to chop it's head off outside. We will be getting a plethera of moth balls to put downstairs. I'm guessing it came in from our storm door in the basement (the Cahaba is only about 100 yards away). But please don't be frightened to come over. No more have been seen. Just wanted to share the experience with you all. It was a crazy night...

Compass finally

We finally made it down to Compass Lake. I haven't been to my lakehouse in about a year and I was going through some major withdrawals. We skiied, tubed, layed out, and mischeviously jumped off a strangers 2 story dock. I was the only one with the guts to go off the rope swing though! hehe. We had some much needed fun in the sun, and it was SO great to spend some time with some of my best buds and of course my husband.

Phone theft

Yes I am a victim of phone theft. I left my phone in my bag in the break room all day. Once during the day, I called to check my messages and some LOSER girl answered! I went to get my phone and it was gone! The people at work saw a little bit of my temper and loved it. My sisters are coming to the rescue and giving me their old phones to try. Thank goodness b/c the cheapest one I could buy is $220! If anyone else has a Cingular phone they're not using, let me know! Until next week, you can reach me at home 987.9864.

A Day Off

It's so nice to have a day off. Tub and I have spent all morning playing fetch. Yes, he fetches, and he loves it! The day also holds writing a kagillion thank you notes, cleaning, grocery store run, and running with Patrick when he gets home from Spain Park. Tonight we're meeting up Gabe and Jaime (brother & sis in law) to see TALLADEGA NIGHTS, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. This movie has been much anticipated since Patrick is from Talladega and a big race fan. I have to go back to work tomorrow to work the weekend. I hope it's a slow one. My last day at work was a doozy. Some of you have heard my gross story from the other day haha.

More news about work: October 1 I will be taking a "flexi" position at Princeton on the same unit I've been working on. It's kind of like a part time position. I'm also applying to work in the Wound Care Clinic/Hyperbaric Chamber at Princeton as well. I'm hoping to work 2 days on Stepdown and 1 day in this clinic during the week.

As I sit in the conference room at Princeton reporting off to the night shift, the secretary slaps a post it down in front of me that says, "Call Patrick ASAP". I'm thinking, "what in the world"?! Evidentially, Pat was woken up from a nap by Tub trying to corner a mouse under the coffee table which was a foot away from his face. He was very disturbed by this and left the house immediately. So...the mouse is somewhere in Patrick's house. He is dreading sleeping there tonight. Good thing he purchased a mouse trap and some peanut butter! We'll see how tough a cat Tub is I guess!

After a horrifying experience with Sandals and Delta, I would like to pass along some knowledge to those who in any time in the future may be getting married and flying somewhere for their honeymoon...

January 2006: An exicted Patrick and Sarah booked their honeymoon as Patrick and Sarah Grace Beverly.

June 2006: A curious Sarah called Delta b/c she realized her passport says "Sarah Grace Jackson". Seeing that her marriage license will be in route to wherever those are mailed, she cannot use that as proof of her new name. After hours of frustrating phone time with Delta and Sandals, she is FORCED to buy a brand new ticket (under today's airfare price) in her maiden name.

The moral of this story is:
*Newly married girls should book all their information under their maiden name or whatever is on your passport or other travel documents.

I cannot even believe I am less than a month away from changing my last name forever! It has really been hitting me lately that I will have a brand new name. I will be the same person, but I'll have a different name and different initials. How weird! It's always been strange for me to get used to calling my friends by a new name when I've spent so many years with the other one. Now that will be the case for me.

Patrick and I are so anxious for July 1st. We're ready to be what Patrick always refers to as "Team Beverly". We're tired of saying goodnight and driving to seperate parts of Birmingham. We're ready to say goodnight and simply close our eyes! I feel like God has really been preparing us for marriage lately (in some hard ways). We are definitely learning who we are and how to discuss difficult issues. I am so sure that marriage will be wild but fun ride, and I cannot wait to begin!

Grey's last night was so crazy. We were all on pins and needles watching it. Thank goodness for DVR b/c Patrick and Jim were late. We were probably 30 minutes behind the rest of the world watching it, but then at least we got to fast forward through the commercials. I was mad at Meredith for hooking up with Shephard, I was sad for Izzy, and mad at Christina for being such a punk girlfriend. It will be a long summer of watching re runs. First of all...Did anyone happen to drive through downtown Birmingham yesterday around 7:00pm? I decided to take the fun way home from work down the dangerous Arkadelphia road and then through "malfunction junction" and downtown. I tried not to get in a wreck as I looked behind me over and over to see the GORGEOUS sunset over and behind all the high rise buildings. If I had my camera, I would have pulled over to take some pics. I am such a huge fan of sunsets and beautiful skies. That was a perfect ending to a hard day at work.

Second of all...Did anyone watch Gray's Anatomy last night? Wow! We're having a Gray's Anatomy party at Pat's tonight to watch the 2 hour conclusion. Just having a few friends over. If you want to come, call me! Personally, I think that Denny will die and Dr. Burke will make it. What do you think?

Everyone's excited about the race!

Saturday morning this group packed up to ride to Talladega for the NASCAR race. We got there and sat in the rain for a few hours before the announcer said that the race was rained out. We were definatley bummed, but at least we go to see Will Ferrell say, "Gentlemen, start your engines!" Who's going with me to see Talladega Nights this Summer???

Our Little Jenna...

So we married off our little Jenna Claire. The weekend was so much fun dragging Jenna in all different directions to various wedding festivities. I loved meeting all of Matt's family and all of their freinds from Texas. And the reception was the most fun one I'd ever been to. Probably b/c I knew almost everyone there (high school friends and families, etc). People drove from as far away as New York, South Carolina, Maryland, and Texas to see the two get hitched. It made Pat and I very very anxious to be doing the same up in the front of the church! My most favorite part was acting a fool at the reception. The bridal party was awesome! Thanks for the memories guys!

So basically, it's just been too long since i've posted something. Thanks Bills for holding me accountable.

Since my last post, I went to Gatlinburg with Haley, Pat, Jim, Deena, Casey, and Eric. It was lots of fun. We skiied down Ober's 2 slopes over and over one day and thoroughly enjoyed the snow. Oh yes, we partook in several snow fights. How could you be around Haley and Patrick without that happening?

Wedding: For those who don't know, we are going to have a very small wedding (basically just family and wedding party). That just appeals to me much more than the huge wedding we were planning. It's still July 1 in Dothan @the First Baptist chapel. I was in Dothan the past few days doing wedding stuff. I got a lot done, but I'm tired of wedding decisions for a while! I decided on stationary, invites, color ideas, fine china, everyday china, took engagement pic for paper, etc. Man Mom has been such a huge help! I couldn't do it without her.

Work: Princeton is working me like a dog. I worked the night shift last night so my sleep schedule is all messed up from that. They tried to get me to work tomorrow...sha right! I'm going to Auburn on Thursday to recruit the nursing students to come there. That should be funny.

So...that's me. What's up with you people????

Just wanted to show you how cute Pat is in his hunting getup. He loves this picture by the way. What is it with guys & guns? Over the Chritmas holidays Pat, Gabe (my brother), Dad, Larry & Robert (cousins) & me went hunting. 3 hours of trying to be still and whispering got us 2 rabbits. We just watched them scurry along, and in the mean time we hear 2 gunshots which was Gabe killing 2 dear. It was fun to be in the wilderness though and fun watching Pat's macho man instinct come out haha. Fun times...we both want to go back.

Atlanta, GA Dec. 2-4
Friday night: Took a cab to a cool Italian restaurant a block away from the Fox and then after dinner saw the Radio City Rocketts perform!

Saturday: Shopped all day at Lennox mall and then walked in the freezing cold to another cool restaurant a few blocks away from our hotel in Midtown.

It was a much needed weekend away with some of the amazing women in my family.

So Pat doesn't know it yet, but he has a cat! I got him from the humane society today. He is three months old and has pretty blue eyes. I took him over to Lisa Carboni's tonight to watch the game with her two cats (Nash & Issac). During the stressful time of the game we thought that if we lost, his name would be "Jinks" and if we won it would be "Vaughn". Speaking of...WHAT A GAME?!! I am going to surprise Patrick with him tomorrow morning. I can't wait!

Priceless Education

I got an email from a friend of mine that is in Africa doing mission work. She works with kids there that do not have the money to go to school. They get 1 meal/day during the week and they do not eat on the weekends. It costs $150/year/child to go to school. This will give them the opportunity to be fed during the day and get an education so they can actually get a paying job one day. My friend is trying to collect money to sponsor these children. The money has to be paid before December 10. If you want to donate any money for one of these kids to go to school next year, let me know and I can give you an address to send the money to. I am sending my money tomorrow. What a cool feeling!

So a certain someone is bent on figuring out his Christmas gift. And...he THINKS he knows what it is, but I am so pumped b/c HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!! I am working on this special gift and cannot wait to give it to him. Some of you that might read this know what it is so no "comments" on the board that would give it away please. Wow, I figured I would never do this, but you get to a certain point with boredom you know. Plus I got to reading other people's and enjoyed trying to catch up with their life through the wide world of blogs. So maybe no one will ever read my blogs, but at least it's giving me something to do right now. PS--I think the fab 5 should seriously consider posting blogs so we can all read up on each other!

I just got off the phone with beloved Jenna. It's always fun to have those goofy conversations. It really lightens and brightens my day. Much love to ya JClaire. Other fun phone conversations today include one with the lovely Whit D, and I caught up for a while with Lauren A.

So I'm thinking about getting a bike maybe? But there is always the issue of how to tote it around. Katie B and I would be such cool outdoor chicks riding our bikes all over town.

Question of the night: What can I do on my days off while everyone else is at work? Katie, do you feel me on this one??
